Senior Marine Engineer

About the role

The Senior Marine Engineer will lead the marine and marine‑safety aspects of a major inland‑water gas extraction and processing project. Reporting to the Project Director, the incumbent ensures that all marine systems are designed, built, and commissioned in compliance with the approved Basis of Design, statutory requirements, and recognised international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the client on marine safety and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and verify contractor designs for barges, mooring systems, subsea pipelines, risers and related infrastructure against API, DNV and ISO standards.
• Coordinate marine interfaces between barges, anchoring systems, export pipelines and on‑shore tie‑ins.
• Oversee QA/QC activities, including fabrication, prefabrication, installation method statements and operational documentation.
• Validate contractor deliverables such as design calculations, construction procedures, installation analyses and risk assessments.
• Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations and readiness for commissioning.
• Identify marine‑related technical risks, assess change orders and recommend mitigation measures.
• Support testing and commissioning, including barge stability and mooring line tension tests.
• Prepare technical reports, maintain design review records and document inspection outcomes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in offshore/marine systems and floating production facilities.
• Strong knowledge of marine safety, regulatory frameworks and international design standards.
• Proven ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering, construction and HSE teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills for technical risk assessment.
