Research Manager – NCD & RMNACH Programs

About the role

The NCD & RMNACH Research Manager will be based in Rwinkwavu, Rwanda, with regular work in Kirehe district. The role leads and manages research activities across non‑communicable disease and reproductive, maternal, neonatal, adolescent, and child health programs, ensuring scientific rigor and strong integration with clinical and program teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and implement research projects across NCD and RMNACH portfolios.
• Develop research protocols, study procedures, and data‑collection tools in collaboration with principal investigators.
• Monitor project timelines, milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
• Ensure ethical compliance, data security, and adherence to study protocols.
• Lead quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑methods study design and implementation.
• Supervise data collectors, research coordinators, and field teams.
• Interpret findings, integrate clinical perspectives, and contribute to scientific writing and dissemination.
• Mentor junior researchers and clinical staff; oversee quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience managing research projects from conception through dissemination.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with clinical, programmatic, and finance teams.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and overseeing quality‑improvement activities.
