Operations Intern – Power Plant

About the role

The Operations Intern will support the Operations Department in ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of ContourGlobal's power plant in Kibuye. Working under the supervision of experienced operators and the shift supervisor, the intern will gain hands‑on experience in monitoring plant equipment, recording operational data and participating in routine inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring safe and reliable plant operation according to established procedures.
• Support monitoring of Wärtsilä W20V34SG gas engines and auxiliary systems for optimum performance.
• Help with start‑up and shutdown of plant equipment under supervision.
• Record operating parameters of gas engines, reverse osmosis plant, gas reduction station, electrical and cooling systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and promptly report any abnormal conditions.
• Assist in emergency response actions such as fire alarms, gas releases or equipment failures.
• Collect and report plant performance data to aid operational decision‑making.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure work areas are clean and hazard‑free.
• Update operational logs, shift reports, equipment checklists and electronic records.

Required profile

• Internship position supervised by Operations Shift Engineer or Shift Supervisor.
• Supports the Operations Department and works under experienced operators.
