Neonatal Nurse

About the role

The Neonatal Nurse provides safe, high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to newborns, including preterm and ill infants, within a multidisciplinary maternal and newborn health team. The role focuses on comprehensive assessment, monitoring, and management of neonatal conditions while supporting families and contributing to continuous quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized neonatal care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Conduct thorough neonatal assessments on admission and throughout stay, identifying risks and complications early.
• Monitor vital signs and clinical parameters, responding promptly to deterioration and escalating concerns.
• Assist during neonatal procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and patient safety.
• Provide thermoregulation, feeding support, infection prevention, and respiratory support monitoring.
• Educate mothers and families on newborn care, danger signs, feeding, hygiene, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including nursing records, monitoring charts, and care plans.
• Participate in adverse event reporting, root cause analysis, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure proper use, sterilization, maintenance, and inventory of neonatal equipment such as incubators and radiant warmers.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with experience in neonatal or NICU settings.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to patient safety, continuous learning, and mentorship of junior staff.
