Malaria and Community Health Technical Officer

About the role

The Malaria and Community Health Technical Officer will support the RISE Project in delivering malaria prevention and case‑management interventions at both facility and community levels across high‑endemic districts in Rwanda. Reporting to the Senior Malaria Technical Officer, the role bridges technical guidance and field implementation to improve malaria service quality and utilization.

Key responsibilities

• Implement integrated community case management (iCCM), home‑based malaria management (HBM/HBMM) and other community‑based services in coordination with the Rwanda Biomedical Center and district health teams.
• Support the Multiple First‑line Therapies (MFT) strategy by training CHWs and facility providers, monitoring ACT allocation, and ensuring commodity availability.
• Conduct Training of Trainers (ToTs) and on‑the‑job mentorship for health providers, Community and Environmental Health Officers, and Community Health Workers on malaria case management, malaria in pregnancy, and related interventions.
• Organize supportive supervision, mentorship visits, and data‑driven monitoring to ensure adherence to national guidelines.
• Collaborate with RISE Malaria & Emerging Infectious Diseases mentors to target interventions in malaria hotspots.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in malaria control, community health, or public health program implementation.
• Familiarity with Rwanda’s health system, including the Rwanda Biomedical Center and district health structures.
• Ability to deliver trainings, supervise field activities, and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
