Advocacy & Campaigns Intern – Child Participation

About the role

This 7‑month internship supports Save the Children’s Child Protection and Child Rights Governance programmes by helping to amplify children’s voices in Rwanda and Burundi. You will work closely with the MEAL team and young peer researchers to collect, validate and analyse data on child participation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate peer child researchers to gather and document evidence on barriers and opportunities for meaningful child participation.
• Support data validation, quality assurance and interpretation together with the MEAL team.
• Assist in preparing child‑centred workshops, hearings and campaign activities under the Catalytic Fund.
• Mentor young people in campaign methodology, capacity‑building and evidence‑collection techniques.
• Facilitate child consultations, capture children’s voices during advocacy moments and report on outcomes.
• Contribute to the drafting, dissemination and learning‑capture of Catalytic Fund reports.
• Ensure safeguarding of all children and adults involved throughout the process.

Required profile

• Age between 18 and 30, full‑time availability for the entire 7‑month period.
• Strong commitment to child rights, participation and advocacy.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Data collection and basic analysis.
• Report writing and presentation of findings.
• Facilitation of workshops and group discussions.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles.
