Application Engineer – Structural Mechanics & Simulation

About the role

Synopsys is looking for an Application Engineer who will act as a trusted technical advisor for customers using its simulation solutions. The role combines deep knowledge of structural mechanics with hands‑on experience in CAE software to help clients achieve superior product performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical activities throughout the sales cycle, including discovery, negotiations, product demos and evaluations.
• Engage directly with customers to understand their development requirements and advise on the use of Ansys or similar CAE tools.
• Design and deliver professional services such as training sessions and hands‑on workshops to boost customer productivity.
• Collaborate with product development teams to translate feedback into new features and participate in testing of software releases.
• Support marketing by creating promotional material, authoring conference presentations and representing Synopsys at industry events.
• Develop application best practices and guide the integration of simulation solutions into customer design workflows.
• Provide technical mentorship to colleagues and stay current with advances in structural mechanics and simulation technology.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Several years of hands‑on experience in the engineering software industry.
• Strong analytical mindset, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills in English and German.
• Willingness to travel as required and represent the company in technical and business settings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ansys or comparable CAE simulation tools.
• Deep understanding of structural mechanics and simulation‑driven product development.
