HSE Manager (m/f)

About the role

The HSE Manager will lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of Health, Safety and Environmental policies across all operational areas. This senior position oversees the HSE team, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives a proactive safety culture within large‑scale construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the HSE management system in line with local and international regulations.
• Lead the HSE team, providing guidance, training and performance support.
• Conduct regular inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare and present HSE performance metrics and reports for senior management.
• Coordinate emergency response planning, drills and ensure readiness.
• Represent the company in HSE meetings, forums and regulatory inspections.
• Stay updated on emerging HSE trends, technologies and best practices, integrating them into company programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of HSE management experience on large‑scale construction projects.
• Minimum 3 years managing HSE on high‑rise hotel, residential or mixed‑use buildings.
• NEBOSH IGC certification (essential) and ISO Auditor certification (preferred).
• Experience working in Africa or other challenging environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of international and local labor, health and environmental legislation.
• Fluent English and ability to work effectively in diverse, cross‑cultural settings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office tools.
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
