Climate Finance Senior Associate

About the role

The Climate Finance Senior Associate will be embedded within Rwanda's Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning Climate Finance Department (CFD). Reporting to the Climate Finance Senior Officer, the associate will help operationalise the CFD and deliver project outputs that align with GGGI’s global climate finance strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Support the operationalisation of the Climate Finance Department and implementation of the GGGI‑MINECOFIN project.
• Identify and develop a pipeline of bankable public, PPP and private climate and nature projects.
• Assist in designing and applying blended financing instruments such as green, social and sustainability bonds, Article 6 carbon market mechanisms and debt‑for‑nature swaps.
• Coordinate with government, development partners and private sector stakeholders to mobilise climate finance at speed and scale.
• Provide technical advisory support and produce project documentation, reports and policy briefs.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of Rwanda’s macro‑economic environment, green investments and climate finance.
• Experience with innovative blended financing instruments and climate‑related financial mechanisms.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, donors and private investors.
• Senior‑level expertise in climate finance and project development.
