Director of Sanitation

About the role

The Director of Sanitation will lead the planning, development and execution of sustainable sanitation infrastructure projects for WASAC. Reporting to the Managing Director of WASAC Development, this senior position ensures alignment with government policies and the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement sanitation project goals, policies and procedures.
• Coordinate government policy implementation for sustainable sanitation infrastructure.
• Secure and manage funding, negotiate contracts and oversee project feasibility studies.
• Supervise technical design, construction management, and environmental compliance.
• Prepare and present technical and administrative reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Maintain relationships with regional, national and district stakeholders, sub‑contractors and local partners.
• Ensure fiscal, legal and corporate policy adherence across all project sites.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a managerial role.
• Proven experience in leading large‑scale sanitation or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of government sanitation policies and environmental regulations.
