Construction Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the on‑site delivery of the African Conservation Academy campus in Akagera National Park, Rwanda. The role combines hands‑on site leadership with full project‑management responsibility, ensuring the campus is built to the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day construction activities from mobilization through completion and handover, following the approved project scope, schedule and budget.
• Oversee procurement, track costs, monitor expenditures and support budget control to minimise overruns.
• Supervise site personnel and subcontractors, ensuring efficient sequencing of work and availability of labour, materials and equipment.
• Act as the primary on‑site liaison with architects, engineers and consultants to align construction with design intent, drawings and specifications.
• Ensure all work complies with quality standards, building codes, health & safety regulations and the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment requirements.
• Prepare and deliver regular progress reports covering schedule, budget, risks, quality and compliance to African Parks and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate site records, support commissioning, inspections, punch‑list items and final handover, including as‑built documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing construction projects on‑site, preferably in large‑scale institutional or campus developments.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with architects, consultants and contractors to achieve design and quality objectives.
• Strong understanding of construction budgeting, cost control and procurement processes.
• Experience ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to project owners and regulatory bodies.
