Senior Accountant – Credit Control

About the role

The Senior Accountant – Credit Control will ensure accurate recording of financial transactions, manage credit risk, and support the finance team in delivering timely reports and compliance. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the role combines accounting expertise with proactive credit control to safeguard the company’s cash flow.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare premium registers and post entries in the ERP system within defined timelines.
• Process requisitions through EFT, adhering strictly to budget limits.
• Complete bank reconciliations promptly, resolving issues within 30 days.
• Ensure commissions are paid within 7 days and claims are processed, approved, and paid within 10 days.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, handle asset capitalization and depreciation.
• Execute month‑end closures for ERP cash, purchasing, stores, and accounts payable modules.
• Reconcile disputed debtor balances and conduct follow‑up calls for premium collections.
• Allocate bank credits, follow up on outstanding debits with underwriters, and process refund premiums.
• Prepare debtor reports, send statements to intermediaries, and facilitate Credit Control Committee meetings.
• Perform general‑ledger analysis, combat fraud through thorough review of commissions, claims, and expenses, and provide schedules to auditors during audit periods.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Pursuing professional qualifications such as CPA or ACCA.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar accounting or credit control role.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and internal controls.
