Operations Manager – Rwanda

About the role

EcoPlanet Bamboo is looking for an Operations Manager to lead the delivery of its Annual Planting and Operations Plan across all 13 districts in Rwanda. Based in Kigali, the role combines strategic planning with a strong field presence, ensuring that planting, nursery, and restoration activities meet productivity, quality, and sustainability targets.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the Annual Planting & Operations Plan into daily, weekly and monthly work plans with clear targets.
• Develop and distribute weekly work plans, defining daily activity, compartment and workforce targets.
• Ensure timely availability of tools, plants, fertiliser, water, equipment, machinery and vehicles.
• Set and enforce quantitative productivity targets and quality standards.
• Optimise labour planning across direct staff, seasonal labour and contractors.
• Manage contract nurseries to meet plant-quality and delivery schedules.
• Maintain a strong in-field presence to enforce SOP, EHS, silvicultural, environmental and FSC standards.
• Conduct structured, randomised compartment-level audits across all districts.
• Review operational performance weekly and implement corrective actions.
• Enforce consequence management for non-compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Operations Manager, preferably in agriculture, forestry or environmental projects.
• Demonstrated ability to lead field teams across multiple locations.
• Strong planning, organising and control skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
• Experience managing supervisors and technicians and coordinating with nursery and corporate support functions.
