Operations Manager – Field Operations

About the role

EcoPlanet Bamboo is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead the delivery of its Annual Planting and Operations Plan across Rwanda’s 13 districts. Based in Kigali, the role combines strategic planning with a strong field presence, ensuring productivity, quality, safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the annual plan into daily, weekly and monthly execution schedules and distribute work plans with clear targets.
• Ensure availability of tools, plants, fertiliser, water, equipment and vehicles, and set quantitative productivity and quality standards.
• Maintain a strong in‑field presence to enforce SOPs, EHS, silvicultural, environmental and FSC standards, conducting compartment‑level audits.
• Lead SOP improvement cycles, manage version control, training and consistent implementation across all districts.
• Oversee plant production, quality, age‑class suitability and delivery schedules, providing weekly performance reports to senior management.

Required profile

• Degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Natural Resource Management or related field.
• 8–10+ years of operational experience in commercial forestry, agriculture or similar field environments.
• Proven ability to manage large workforces, including supervisors and technicians.
• Strong silviculture or field operations expertise with disciplined workforce and resource planning.
• Assertive, fair leadership style with a focus on mentorship and accountability.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency for managing multiple parallel projects.
• Experience with spatial data analysis and reporting.
• Data‑driven decision‑making capability.
