Oncology Research Manager

About the role

The Oncology Research Manager will lead and coordinate all oncology research projects at PIH’s Burera site in Rwanda. Reporting to the Director of Research and Training, this role ensures high‑quality data collection, analysis, and dissemination to support cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute oncology research projects in collaboration with principal investigators and the PIH team.
• Develop research protocols, study procedures, and data‑collection tools.
• Monitor project milestones and control expenses within the approved budget.
• Supervise oncology research coordinators and data collectors to guarantee high‑quality data.
• Collaborate with clinicians and program staff to resolve data ambiguities.
• Address data quality control and cleaning queries, maintaining data security per protocol.
• Prepare and submit progress or final research reports and present findings to management and external audiences.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, nursing, medicine, global health statistics, or a related field; PhD preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of full‑time experience in research, preferably with direct involvement in oncology studies.
• Proven expertise in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑methods research.
• Strong scientific writing and reporting abilities.
