Emergency Physician

About the role

The Emergency Physician delivers high‑quality, evidence‑based emergency and acute care to patients presenting with a wide range of urgent conditions. Working in the Emergency Department, the physician combines direct clinical service with teaching, supervision, and participation in quality improvement and research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage undifferentiated emergency presentations, including resuscitation, trauma, paediatric emergencies and mental‑health crises.
• Perform and supervise emergency procedures such as airway management, intubation, central and arterial line placement, chest drain insertion, cardioversion and lumbar puncture.
• Prioritise patient flow through effective triage and ensure timely disposition decisions.
• Collaborate with inpatient specialists, surgeons, internal medicine and allied health professionals to optimise patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical documentation in line with hospital standards.

Required profile

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent in Emergency Medicine.
• Experience in a busy emergency department handling a full spectrum of acuity.
• Commitment to teaching medical students, interns and residents.
• Active involvement in clinical research, quality improvement or guideline development.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, equity of care and academic excellence.
