Accountant – Finance Department

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated, detail‑oriented and results‑driven Accountant to join our Finance Department at Shema Power Lake Kivu Ltd. The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting, ensuring tax compliance, and assisting with audits and inventory management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable: verify invoices, process payments, and reconcile supplier accounts.
• Perform account reconciliations for AP, AR, and general ledger.
• Prepare and post journal entries, record accruals, and support month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Assist with monthly tax computation, filing returns, and meeting statutory deadlines.
• Support internal and external audits, including stock counts and documentation.
• Handle day‑to‑day bookkeeping, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and ledger accuracy.
• Assist in billing and collections, preparing customer invoices and reconciling receivables.
• Contribute to monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.

Required profile

• Dedicated, detail‑oriented and results‑driven.
• Ability to work onsite in Rubavu.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an ERP system for invoice posting and payments.
• Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliation.
• Knowledge of tax compliance and filing procedures.
• Familiarity with audit support and documentation.
• Bookkeeping and financial reporting capabilities.
• Ability to prepare journal entries and perform bank reconciliations.
