Testing & Commissioning Manager

About the role

Mace is seeking an experienced Testing & Commissioning Manager to lead the commissioning of a landmark airport project in Kigali. You will develop and execute the commissioning strategy for all civil, structural, MEP and special systems, ensuring seamless handover to the airport operator.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive Project Commissioning Management Plan covering pre‑commissioning, commissioning and integrated testing phases.
• Produce and maintain a detailed commissioning programme integrated with the master construction schedule.
• Chair the Commissioning Coordination Group and manage interfaces between contractors, designers and the airport operator.
• Oversee factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT) and integrated systems tests (IST).
• Maintain the Commissioning Tracker, recording test certificates, witnessed tests and acceptance sign‑offs.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and approvals with RCAA, ICAO and other authorities.
• Manage snagging, defect close‑out and operator training prior to practical completion.
• Deliver all commissioning documentation, including O&M manuals, test records, warranties and spares schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of testing and commissioning management experience on major infrastructure, aviation or complex building projects.
• Proven experience commissioning complex MEP systems (HV/LV distribution, HVAC, fire systems, standby power) and special systems (BMS, SCADA, BHS).
• Airport commissioning experience with regulatory interface (RCAA or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering; professional membership preferred.
• Highly organised with strong programme management skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
