Senior Central Data Steward

About the role

Africa Global Logistics Rwanda Limited, a transport and logistics company based in Kigali, Rwanda, is looking for a Senior Central Data Steward. The role is the central reference for third-party master data in the Africa region and several Business Units, ensuring data accuracy, reliability and compliance with the MDM governance framework. It covers central validation, data quality management, compliance-related data topics and support to transformation and deployment programs.

Key responsibilities

• Validate and supervise data requests for the creation or update of AGL parties, handling complex, sensitive or cross-country requests and monitoring workflow backlogs.
• Keep master data consistent and correctly structured in UNIFY (EBX TIBCO), including party structures, group hierarchies, legal entity checks, accounting codes and cross-country duplicates.
• Define and maintain data quality rules and controls, analyse recurring errors and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure parties are correctly broadcast to the compliance screening tool and coordinate with the Compliance Team and IT to resolve issues.
• Supervise and coach the Kigali Junior Central Data Steward and support the Local Data Steward network across countries and Business Units.
• Own regional data quality KPIs, produce dashboards and status reports, and lead improvement action plans.
• Design and steer multi-country data cleansing campaigns and arbitrate escalated data inconsistencies.
• Maintain governance rules and procedures, collect feedback, write and follow up change requests for UNIFY with IT, and train and onboard data stewards.

Required profile

• 5 to 6 years of experience in master data management, data governance or data quality, including a central or multi-country role.
• Expert knowledge of third-party data, data governance frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead a network, manage projects and influence stakeholders without direct authority in a multicultural environment.
• Fluent in English and French; rigorous, diplomatic, autonomous and solution-oriented.

Required skills

• Expert use of MDM tools, with strong data analysis, reporting and functional specification skills.
• Strong understanding of UNIFY (EBX TIBCO) and connected applications such as SAP.
