Research Manager – NCD & RMNACH

About the role

The NCD & RMNACH Research Manager will be based primarily in Rwinkwavu, Rwanda, with regular work in Kirehe district. The role leads and manages research activities across non‑communicable diseases and reproductive, maternal, neonatal, adolescent, and child health programs, ensuring scientific rigor and strong integration with clinical and programmatic teams.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and implement research projects across NCD and RMNACH portfolios.
• Develop research protocols, study procedures, and data collection tools in collaboration with principal investigators.
• Monitor project timelines, milestones, budgets, and ethical compliance.
• Lead quantitative, qualitative, and mixed‑methods study design, data collection, management, and analysis.
• Supervise data collectors, junior researchers, and field teams, providing mentorship and capacity‑building.
• Oversee quality‑improvement initiatives within both program areas.
• Lead scientific writing, including abstracts, reports, and manuscript preparation for dissemination.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
• Excellent scientific writing skills.
• Demonstrated experience managing research projects from conception through dissemination.
• Ability to mentor junior researchers and clinical staff.
• Experience overseeing quality‑improvement initiatives in health programs.
