Project Field Officer

About the role

The Project Field Officer will support the implementation of the Farm to Market Alliance (FtMA) project in Rwanda. Working at the field level, the officer ensures high‑quality delivery of interventions that strengthen farmer organisations, improve agricultural practices and facilitate market access.

Key responsibilities

• Assist cooperatives and farmer‑owned supply chains (FSCs) in adopting governance standards, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), post‑harvest handling standards (PHHS), aggregation methods and sound business practices.
• Plan and deliver farmer trainings, coaching sessions and on‑farm demonstrations according to the project workplan.
• Support pre‑harvest contracting, aggregation planning and coordination with buyers and service providers.
• Provide regular field‑based technical assistance, demonstrations and guidance to farmers.
• Maintain communication with the Project Coordinator and Monitoring & Evaluation teams, reporting progress, challenges and risks.
• Engage proactively with cooperatives, district authorities, buyers, financial institutions and other FtMA stakeholders, representing the project at local coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Experience working with farmer organisations, cooperatives or supply chains in an agricultural development context.
• Ability to deliver trainings and provide on‑site technical assistance.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with public and private sector partners.

Required skills

• Knowledge of governance standards, GAP and PHHS for smallholder agriculture.
