New Business Development Manager

About the role

The New Business Development Manager will join the senior leadership team of the Rwanda and Burundi Country Office, driving resource mobilisation and new business development. This role is responsible for shaping and executing a robust funding strategy that aligns with the Country Strategic Plan and expands the donor portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive country office funding strategy and donor engagement plan.
• Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with strategic donors, partners, and funding agencies.
• Coordinate programme and proposal development, ensuring competitive and well‑managed submissions.
• Embed best practices, tools, and training for new business development across all departments.
• Facilitate both in‑country and out‑of‑country donor engagement initiatives.
• Conduct after‑action reviews to drive continuous learning and improvement.
• Represent the office in high‑value funding opportunities with donors, governments, and peer agencies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in business development, fundraising, or resource mobilisation, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
• Strong track record of securing multi‑year funding and managing donor relationships.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
• Willingness to work Rwanda business hours (+/- 2 hours) and adapt to remote or onsite arrangements.
