National Consultant – Child Protection & MHPSS for Ebola Response

About the role

The National Consultant will provide expert technical support to UNICEF and Government partners in Rwanda to strengthen child protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) within the Ebola preparedness and response framework. This six‑month consultancy is office‑based in Kigali with occasional mission travel.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and adapt technical tools, guidelines, standard operating procedures and training packages for child protection and MHPSS in the context of Ebola.
• Support capacity‑building activities for UNICEF staff and Government counterparts.
• Produce concrete, time‑bound outputs that enhance national readiness and response systems.
• Coordinate with the Rwanda Biomedical Centre and other stakeholders to align technical assistance with national priorities.
• Provide evidence‑based recommendations to mitigate Ebola‑related risks affecting children and families.

Required profile

• Minimum BA degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Child Protection, Social Policy or related field.
• At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in child protection, mental health and psychosocial support, or public health emergency response.
• Demonstrated experience in Ebola or other infectious disease outbreak preparedness and response is a strong asset.
• Proven track record in developing technical tools, guidelines, SOPs or training materials for child protection or MHPSS.
