Electrical Project Engineer – Fixed-Term (Rwanda)

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead the design, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical infrastructure for its projects in Rwanda. The role ensures compliance with SANS standards and delivers reliable, safe electrical systems from concept to hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design reviews and provide technical oversight for LV/MV power distribution, lighting, and grounding systems.
• Validate load calculations, system sizing and contractor shop drawings for accuracy and code compliance.
• Approve materials, equipment and technical submissions against project specifications.
• Supervise installation, testing and commissioning activities, ensuring correct routing, integration and performance.
• Enforce quality control and occupational health & safety standards on‑site.
• Coordinate electrical works with civil, structural, architectural and MEP teams to avoid conflicts.
• Prepare technical reports, site inspection records and as‑built documentation.
• Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep projects on schedule.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of SANS and national electrical codes.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractor relationships.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
