Communication Analyst – Office Based

About the role

Reporting to the Country Representative, the Communications Analyst supports the planning and implementation of UN Women Rwanda’s communications and advocacy strategies. The role works closely with programme, operations, HQ and regional teams, as well as government officials, media, donors and civil‑society partners to raise the visibility and impact of gender‑equality initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide substantive support to the design of external communication and outreach strategies, ensuring a gender perspective is embedded.
• Analyse print and social‑media coverage, produce regular monitoring reports and advise the Country Office and HQ.
• Integrate communication and advocacy components into project proposals and programme plans.
• Support the launch and promotion of UN Women corporate campaigns such as HeForShe, Generational Equality and the Global Media Compact.
• Draft briefing notes, press releases and talking points; identify storylines for articles and coordinate their translation, printing and dissemination.
• Maintain media relations, organise press conferences, round‑table discussions and briefings for journalists.
• Produce communication products including brochures, fact‑sheets, newsletters and audiovisual material; manage the office’s Flickr and social‑media accounts.
• Develop and maintain a repository of publications, coordinate website content and ensure compliance with HQ policies.
• Build and sustain partnerships with donors, advocacy partners and civil‑society organisations to amplify UN Women’s messages.
• Facilitate knowledge‑management activities by preparing briefs on best practices, organising training workshops and supporting the Country Office’s knowledge‑management strategy.
