Assistant Investment Manager – Strategic Initiatives & AfCFTA Fund

About the role

The Assistant Investment Manager will support FEDA’s investment team throughout the full investment lifecycle, focusing on the $250 million Strategic Initiatives Fund and the operationalisation of the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund. This role combines deal origination, financial analysis, and portfolio governance to drive high‑impact greenfield investments across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in deal sourcing, evaluation, and preparation of investment committee and Board materials.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, modelling, and valuation of prospective greenfield projects.
• Support deal structuring, term‑sheet drafting, and negotiation of investment terms.
• Coordinate due‑diligence activities and manage external advisors.
• Monitor portfolio company performance, including ESG action plans and value‑creation initiatives.
• Prepare regular investment reports for executive management, the Board, and investors.
• Contribute to fundraising and capital deployment for the AfCFTA Adjustment Fund.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in investment banking, private equity or a comparable financial role.
• Strong understanding of private‑equity and greenfield investment dynamics in Africa.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
