Finance Trainee – Accounting & Payments Internship

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a Finance Trainee to join its Young Professionals Program. This paid internship offers hands‑on experience in core financial operations, payments, and accounts payable while supporting the organization’s mission to empower smallholder farmers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, organizing, and maintaining financial documentation, trackers, and reports.
• Support financial planning, data analysis, and process improvements.
• Record financial transactions in SAP and prepare journal entries under supervision.
• Help with monthly closing activities, including bank and mobile‑money reconciliations.
• Maintain prepaid expense and fixed‑asset schedules and prepare audit documentation.
• Process vendor, staff, and operational payments while ensuring policy compliance.
• Monitor payment status via banking and mobile‑money platforms and resolve errors.
• Update cash‑balance reports, maintain payment trackers, and communicate payment updates to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career accounting professional with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
• Interest in developing a career in global reporting, treasury, or finance operations.
