Technical Assistance Engineer

About the role

The Rwanda Technical Assistance Engineer will lead Fika's technical assistance mandate, managing the log‑frame, driving capacity‑building programmes and ensuring sustainable bridge infrastructure across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage Rwanda’s Technical Assistance log‑frame, tracking progress against government and private‑sector capacity‑building targets.
• Design, deliver and evaluate training programmes for engineers, contractors and district staff in bridge construction, inspection and maintenance.
• Promote adoption of Fika’s bridge manuals and digital tools (Fika Collect, Bridge Comparison Tool, cost estimation tools) within ministries, districts and training institutions.
• Support the establishment of bridge inspection and maintenance systems, feeding findings back to engineering teams for design improvements.
• Represent Fika as the primary technical liaison with ministries, district engineers, training institutions and private‑sector partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Master’s preferred) with at least 5 years of engineering, infrastructure delivery or technical assistance experience.
• Proven experience designing and delivering capacity‑building programmes and tracking results against a log‑frame.
• Strong knowledge of rural bridge construction, inspection and maintenance.
• Experience working with Rwandan government institutions is strongly preferred.
• Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda, with excellent analytical and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
