Head of Food & Agriculture

About the role

The Head of Food & Agriculture will provide strategic leadership for Equity Group Foundation Rwanda’s Food & Agriculture pillar, overseeing agricultural development interventions, the EquiFarm digital ecosystem rollout, and women and youth empowerment programmes. The role drives integrated programme implementation, partnership building and resource mobilisation to boost smallholder productivity, financial inclusion and climate resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Food & Agriculture pillar, developing and overseeing multi‑year strategies, plans and budgets aligned with national priorities.
• Lead the nationwide rollout and adoption of the EquiFarm platform, coordinating farmer, cooperative and merchant onboarding and monitoring performance metrics.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, development partners, farmer organisations and agribusinesses to expand programme reach.
• Develop funding proposals, secure grants and innovate financing approaches to support smallholder farmers and agribusinesses.
• Oversee programme monitoring, evaluation and reporting, ensuring impact measurement, compliance and high‑quality documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in agribusiness, financial inclusion or agricultural development, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience managing agriculture financing, climate‑smart agriculture initiatives and digital agriculture platforms.
• Demonstrated success in partnership development, resource mobilisation and stakeholder management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and fostering a high‑performance, innovative culture.
