Graduate WASH Intern

About the role

World Vision is seeking a Graduate WASH Intern to support the Regional WASH program across nine East African countries. Based in Rwanda, the 12‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in water, sanitation and hygiene project implementation, resource mobilisation and community of practice development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Regional WASH Director and Infrastructure Specialist in implementing the WASH Business Plan in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda.
• Develop and review reports, Bill of Quantities, marketing materials and communication assets for WASH projects and conferences.
• Support resource acquisition and development activities across country offices.
• Monitor risk management and mitigation in collaboration with the Regional Risk Management Officer.
• Validate water‑tracking data and promote a culture of quality in field offices.
• Strengthen the WASH Community of Practice in East Africa by establishing and running a regional chapter.
• Perform additional duties as required, including field visits and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction technology, civil & environmental engineering, water and sanitation or a related field.
• Graduated within the last two years and registered with a relevant professional body.
• Eligible to work in Rwanda.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to World Vision’s Christian values and spiritual ethos.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) design principles.
• Experience preparing Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and resource acquisition documents.
