Senior Investment Manager – Direct Investments in Africa

About the role

The Fund for Export Development in Africa (FEDA) is seeking a senior Investment Manager to lead its Direct Investment Fund strategy. Based in Kigali, Rwanda, the role will oversee the full investment lifecycle for African direct investments, from origination to exit and fundraising.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the investment team through deal sourcing, evaluation, investment committee participation, board meetings and portfolio oversight.
• Conduct risk assessments, financial analysis, modelling and valuation of potential investments and greenfield projects.
• Prepare term sheets, investment memoranda and negotiate deal terms.
• Coordinate due‑diligence processes with advisors and present findings to senior management and the investment committee.
• Monitor portfolio company performance, implement value‑creation and ESG action plans, and produce regular investment reports for governance bodies.
• Support fundraising activities by creating marketing materials and engaging with investors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Banking, Engineering, Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in investment banking, private equity or a comparable financial role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness to relocate to Kigali, Rwanda.
