Regional Budget & Financial Management Advisor – East Africa & Western Indian Ocean

About the role

The Regional Budget and Financial Management Advisor supports the East Africa, Madagascar & Western Indian Ocean (EAMWIO) region of Wildlife Conservation Society. Reporting to the Regional Business Manager, the Advisor leads budgeting, financial monitoring and analysis to ensure effective use of resources and informed decision‑making across six countries.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the regional budgeting process, review country submissions and manage adjustments.
• Support financial forecasting, business planning and unit‑cost analysis.
• Provide input and review for proposal budgets to ensure compliance with donor requirements.
• Update and monitor quarterly financial KPIs for countries and grants.
• Analyse budget‑vs‑actual performance, spending trends and identify risks or efficiency opportunities.
• Offer surge and temporary coverage during staffing gaps and support audit follow‑up.
• Contribute to strengthening financial systems and procedures across the region.

Required profile

• Proven experience in budgeting, financial planning and analysis, preferably within international NGOs or development programs.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with regional and country finance teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
