Head of Technical and Vocational Skills Development Initiatives

About the role

The Mastercard Foundation is seeking an experienced leader to head its Technical and Vocational Skills Development (TVSD) Initiatives across Africa. Reporting to the Director of Secondary Education, the role will shape strategy, oversee program delivery, and ensure impact for millions of young people.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with heads of Secondary Education units to define and evolve TVSD program strategy.
• Design, implement, and monitor TVSD initiatives at country, multi‑country, and Pan‑African levels.
• Set portfolio goals and work with the Impact Team to track and achieve objectives.
• Coordinate with Country Program teams on local TVET and skills development activities.
• Oversee learning organizations providing technical support on Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) continent‑wide.
• Develop partnerships with governments, private sector, educators, and funders to enhance vocational training quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical and vocational education and training program design and management.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder‑engagement skills across multiple African contexts.
• Ability to drive results in complex, multi‑country environments.
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
